112 tiger cubs have been spotted in India recently.

But tiger cub boom will just be a blip on the road to extinction unless authorities do something soon

April 2010. At last a chink of light amongst the gloom of tiger conservation in India. Reports from various reserves around India indicate that at least 112 tiger cubs have been born recently, reinforcing the theory that the tiger will breed well and multiply if just left alone for a while.

However as tiger poaching continues to take its toll, this welcome mini cub-boom will mean nothing unless the authorities in India clamp down on poaching, and authorities in China do something to stop the disgusting lust for tiger products.

tiger cubs reported by reserve

  • Nagarhole - 10 cubs
  • Bandipur - 12 cubs
  • Nagarjunsagar - 9 cubs
  • Kanha - 22 cubs
  • Tadoba - 15 cubs

  • Pench - 10 cubs
  • Bandhavgarh - 12 cubs
  • Ranthambore 10 cubs
  • Dudhawa - 12 cubs

Not good news for Tigers

This report although it is very good news it only informs poaching teams to know the best places to go and kill Tigers. as you so rightly say until the Chinese Government takes positive steps to prevent the inport of Tiger parts and also ensures the closure of the Tiger breeding farms in China, we will continue to loose more Tigers than the amount of cubs being born.
