Clip of the week - Man-eating grasshopper
On a recent trip to the Savoy Alps, we discovered a veritable Serengeti of minibeasts. Swarms of butterflies, grasshoppers, beetles and moths, interspersed with the odd snake, marmot and bird. The grasshoppers make a constant din, and often fly into passers by in seemingly uncontrolled flight. This particular hopper landed on me, and didn't want to get off once he had tasted me, or at least the salts on my hand. He began scraping them off with his mandibles, and had to be 'encouraged' to leave me alone. See more wildlife videos.
