The St Petersburg Summit in November 2011 highlighted the plight of the tiger and the need to take urgent action if it is to be conserved in the wild. Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, Global Tiger Patrol (GTP) has been in the forefront of efforts to work with communities, scientists and authorities to identify and take the most appropriate tiger conservation action.
In 2011 Global Tiger Patrol's launched a programme with Travel Operators for Tigers (TOFT) to present its Indian Wildlife Tourism Awards to promote best practices in the tourism industry and to provide training for forest guards.
