Birdwatching for Beginners18/01/2012 13:12:52 The RSPB has organised a special free four day course in February to give people in South Dorset the opportunity to learn more about birds. The course will show people how to identify different birds, where to look for them, and the basics of using binoculars. Each day of the course will be held at a different outdoor venue in Poole and Bournemouth.Sarah-Jane Buckle, who has organized the event for the RSPB said: "This is a great opportunity for anyone who's always wanted to learn a bit more about our feathered friends. South Dorset is a brilliant place for birds and birdwatching, and we're really keen to get more people out and about and enjoying what there is to see. "We've got some excellent venues for the event and I'm really looking forward to it. We'll provide everything to start off with, and you don't even have to have your own binoculars as we'll have some to borrow. And best of all its free - although donations are always welcome!". The course details are as follows: Day 1 - Upton Country Park 1st Feb 10-12am Learn how to use your binoculars and which are best suited while exploring the birds of the park. Meet by the education centre Day 2 - Talbot Heath 8th Feb 10-12am Explore a new habitat to see different species and learn about lowland heath, re capping on skills learnt on day one. Please meet by Coy Pond in Bournemouth Day 3 - Stanpit Marsh 22nd Feb 10-12am Stanpit Marsh is an amazing site for waders and wildfowl. This is a nice and easy site to practice your growing skills.
