Unusual new species of frog discovered on the highest peak in India’s Western Ghats13/05/2010 15:02:36An unusual new species of frog has been discovered in India's Western Ghats. The new species, Raorchestes resplendens sp. nov. is almost certainly restricted to less than 3 sq. kilometres on the summit of Mount Anamudi, and needs immediate conservation priority. S.D. Biju, one of the scientists that found the new frog, described the unusual features; "This new frog has very short limbs and multiple glands and swellings almost like a toad. The frog is a unique new member of the tree frog group, and is the only tree frog to have what the researchers call macro glands".
