Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre needs urgent funds

04/09/2012 15:59:39 Funds needed to buy the site of the Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre

September 2012. "Don't let our wolves become homeless" is a campaign to raise money to buy the 17-hectare site on which the Iberian Wolf Recovery Centre (IWRC) has stood for the last 25 years.

Today, the survival of the centre is at risk and depends entirely on the purchase of this land. If IWRC don't reach the necessary target, they risk having to find another site to start all over again. Your contribution is critical for the continuation of this project. By having your support IWRC can provide rescued wolves with a safe and natural habitat and create a new future for this fascinating predator.

With Recovering The Wolf Population, It Saves The Capercaillie

The saving of the Iberian wolf has a positive effect in Portugal. There are a large number of European wild boars, which feed on the eggs of the ground nesting capercaillie. Because of this, the capercaillie population is decreasing. But with the Iberian wolf preying on European wild boars, the capercaillie numbers are starting to increase. So there is a benefit for two of Portugal's wildlife species.
