Six rhinos killed in India

11/12/2006 00:00:00 Bad news from Kaziranga National Park, by far the most important reserve for the endangered Indian rhinocerous. Authorities in India have revealed that 6 rhinos have been killed by poachers recently.

It is thought that there are more than 1500 rhinos in Kaziranga, more than half of the world's population. 5-6 rhinos per year are thought to have been poached over the last few years so the recent killings are a worrying upturn.
