New photos of Ivory-billed woodpecker claims

29/01/2010 23:46:16 Last throw of the dice for the 'God bird'
January 2010. Someone by the name of Daniel Rainsong is claiming that he took two photos of an Ivory-billed woodpecker in Texas' southern Sabine River basin. The bird was allegedly spotted and photographed twice. This momentous news is somewhat dampened by the fact that virtually no one believes it is true.

The story stems from a press release that appeared on free-press-release.com, where it appears to have been placed by Mr Rainsong. However a brief search on Google reveals just one Daniel Rainsong; a semi professional gambler who appears to market various systems that will guarantee a return on some forms of gambling, and who has no known interest in ornithology. What is more he was assisted by two people called Rita Goldstein and CheyAnna Donaldson, neither of whom appear to be known in Ornithological circles.

Mr Rainsong claims to have lodged his images with certain university experts, but he won't release the images until the experts have confirmed this sighting.

Perhaps it was a Gloucester Old Spot that Mr Rainsong saw fly by?
