February 2012. Adam Riley, managing director of Indri Ultimate Mammal Voyages having seen our images of leucistic impala in South Africa, sent us this photo of another leucistic impala, this time from Tanzania's Serengeti National Park.  There are estimated to be several hundred thousand impala in the Serengeti ecosystem, so the probability is taht there will be several leucistic animals there at any one time.

Leucism (or Leukism)
Leucism is a very unusual condition whereby the pigmentation cells in an animal or bird fail to develop properly. This can result in unusual white patches appearing on the animal, or, more rarely, completely white creatures.
