At least six tigers killed in Nepal in the last few weeks
May 2008. Nepal's National News Agency has reported that at least six tigers have been killed by poachers in Chitwan National Park and areas surrounding it in southern Nepal in the past month.
Two tigers were killed near Barandabhar nearly five weeks ago along with two cubs. No remains were found as the poachers had removed all the parts of the dead tigers. Another tiger was found dead in the national park a week later. Yet another tiger was killed a week later, again near the Barandabhar area.
The poachers used poisoned meat to kill the tigers, said a conservation officer from the national park. It is possible that more tigers might have been killed as the poachers usually remove all parts of the animal to sell in illegal markets.
