Authorities fiddle while tigers disappear
July 2009. Tigers have disappeared from Panna Tiger Reserve due to poaching according to an assessment done by the Wildlife Institute of India. There are thought to be two tigers in Panna, but these were recently translocated there from another tiger reserve.
It is thought that just 2 years ago there were as many as 30 tigers alive in Panna, but the entire population has been wiped out by poachers. Questions must be asked as to how this has been allowed to happen in what was considered to be one of India's premier tiger reserves, and given the huge funding that has recently been put into tiger conservation in India and the known threat to tigers worldwide at the moment. There is a strong feeling that authorities may have turned a blind eye while the butchery was happening to avoid bad press for their own tiger conservation efforts - or lack thereof.

Shame Is The Only Word Remaining. Though I am an Indian, I must confess that India is not AT ALL DOING ENOUGH to save the tigers. Officials only like to play THE BLAME GAME. NO WORDS REMAIN TO BE EXPRESS. Some experts like Mr. Valmik Tharpar Work hard Only to realize that the entire system is corrupt. When people like them bring some news about tiger's declining population, The officials dont want the people to know the harsh reality and they BAN such hard working people from entering and researching about the tigers in the National Park. By Saying this, i Strongly mean the PANNA INCIDENT. Panna EXPERIENCED IT and now I think many other national parks will experience the same. SHAME ON INDIANS.
On the other hand " CHINA " must do something to stop the illegal trades on tiger parts. ITS ENOUGH. TIGERS HAVE HAD ENOUGH. What on earth will the poachers do after they have killed all the tigers, May be go for the rhinos, and elephants are not far behind.
BETTER SAVE THEM NOW AND LET THE FUTURE WORLD SEE THAT THERE WAS INDEED AN ANIMAL CALLED THE " TIGER".

This is absolutely disgraceful news. India has recently stated that they are increasing funding for Tiger protection and creating new reserves for Tigers. But each month one reads of more Tigers being killed by poachers. As India is proberably the country with the most Tigers it is essential that they do more to protect them.
