Vestal moth

01/06/2007 15:55:04 butterflies/vestal_moth

The Vestal moth is a migrant moth, occasionally being seen in southern Britain and rarely elsewhere. Very raraely breeds in the UK.  However this particular moth was seen on Skirrid Fawr, a spectacular hill just outside Abergavenny in May 2010.

Vestal moths usually breed in southern Europe and North Africa, and the caterpillars live on knotgrass.
