Sussex & Kent Wildlife Trusts receive major grant28/09/2010 09:56:50Sussex has received a major boost to its conservation efforts. September 2010. Sussex Wildlife Trust (SWT) has been awarded a generous grant by Arcadia of £300,000 ($500,000) to be paid over five years. The money will be used to support the Trust's work promoting large-scale conservation projects so that wildlife can thrive in larger, joined up areas of land. Arcadia has also awarded a similar size grant to Kent Wildife Trust enabling both organisations to collaborate on restoring wildlife and habitats on a landscape-scale across the South East. Dr Tony Whitbread, Chief Executive of SWT says; "This is a truly magnificent donation and will have a significant impact on how we are able to educate landowners and land users so we can make substantial gains for wildlife in Sussex and beyond." As well as funding research into areas offering the best opportunities for large-scale nature conservation, this grant will enable SWT to engage and work with landowners, local authorities and communities in local project areas. Arcadia Arcadia is the charitable foundation of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin. Since inception in 2001 Arcadia has awarded in excess of $192 million.
