This white stork was seen by Sarah Sherran in Dorset, and photographed by Steve Trewhella. According to the RSPB, about 20 White storks are seen in Britain every year, but there are no records of the birds nesting. They used to be fairly common across Central and Southern Europe, but they have declined steadily throughout the 20th century, mostly due to habitat loss and intensive farming. Most of the European population migrate to Africa for the winter. White stork in Dorset, by Steve trewhella
