October 2008. The competition was open to photographs taken in any of the 9 WWT centres located in the UK.

The response to the 2008 WWT London Nikon Photo of the Year competition exceeded expectations, with hundreds of high quality photographs submitted for judging. The winner of the WWT Nikon Photo of the Year was titled ‘Flamingo Catwalk' by Geof Slocombe. This colourful photograph is an interpretation of the Caribbean Flamingos at the Slimbridge WWT centre. Morgan Palmer's detailed photograph of a Puna Teal was picked as the winner in the junior category.

Competition judge Malcolm Tait, editor of WWT Waterlife magazine said, ‘The response to the competition this year was outstanding. The high quality of the photographs made it very difficult to pick a winner, but I think the two successful photos just edged it. This competition grows from strength to strength.'
