Leopard in a tree with prey at sunset - Top wildlife images

Red light spells danger.

Leopard in a tree - seen it, done it many times. Is it still a great shot, of course it is, the tree is always different, the light changeable and the species' vary. Leopard moving a kill down an open trunk in an open plain at dusk -a different proposition altogether.

Any lens would have really worked here, long or medium, like the one employed here or wide to give a feeling of space. This was all about gambling. I found the predator skulking in a hollow mid afternoon. The kill had already been located. Rather than trail the animal in average light, we positioned and waited for her to ascend the tree to feed on a kill she had barely touched.
