Slow Norfolk and Suffolk - Slow Devon and Exmoor - Slow North Yorkshire

reviews/reviews_2010/slow_norfolk Published by Bradt & Alistair Sawday

Perhaps if Jerome K Jerome had published guidebooks instead of novels, he might have written books like these. Motorways are ignored, short cuts are not welcome, and speed is an anathema. Boats, bikes, shanks pony and steam trains are the preferred forms of travel, though cars, buses and trains are allowed. Accommodation is chosen for its character and service rather than proximity to airports, and restaurants are decent pubs and tearooms, no chains involved.

Wildlife?
Slow travel involves plenty of wildlife, whether by design or just in passing. There are plenty of nature reserves listed, and if you are walking across Exmoor or paddling around the Norfolk Broads, you will see plenty of wildlife one way or another.

I hope this series does well and becomes international, as it is about time everyone slowed down a bit and appreciated what is around them.

RRP £14.99, but usually available from Amazon for under £10. To buy from Amazon, click Slow Norfolk & Suffolk
