Ballyteigue Nature Reserve
Ballyteigue covers 6.4 hectares and consists of 5 parcels of wet meadow heath. These are being managed in the traditional way for hay making with the objective of maintaining them as examples of wet meadows found over the shale soils of the region.
Wildlife highlights: The Marsh Orchid is found in abundance on the site. Hare, Snipe, Common Frog and Orange tip butterfly can also be found on the site.
Location: The reserve is situated 2 km east of Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare. Follow the Kilfenora road (R478) out of Lisdoonvarna for 2km, then turn left; the entrance to the Nature Reserve is after 100m on the left. There is no parking at the entrance, it is necessary to continue down the road to find a safe place to park.
