This reserve is a designated NR in a disused limestone quarry with small areas of wetland and unimproved grassland surrounded by scrubby woodland. It is principally designated for its geological interest. Important species include wood white butterfly and birds such as mistle thrush, bullfinch and starling. The common blue butterfly is found in the grassland areas and large red damselfly inhabit the wetland.
This nature reserve is open to the public.
Belshaws Quarry, Co Antrim
A 1.3 ha site - situated 3 miles north-west of Lisburn City Centre.This reserve is a designated NR in a disused limestone quarry with small areas of wetland and unimproved grassland surrounded by scrubby woodland.
