The Northumberland Seabird Centre
The Northumberland Seabird Centre is a privately run family business. The centre is fully licensed by the RSPB, and offers a professional information and booking service to Visitors, Birdwatchers, Photographers and Wildlife enthusiasts.
Boat trips and Live CCTV:
A gateway to coastal adventures and the Coquet Island RSPB Reserve, offering an even better opportunity in which to view the birds on the Coquet Island reserve through Live CCTV images, and the opportunity to take a boat trip to the island reserve on their own modern and powerfull Catamaran - SHOKWAVE.
CCTV images are beamed back to the Centre from the camera system one mile out to sea on the island reserve, and show up to the minute activities as they happen with no disturbance to the birds or their young at the nesting sites.
Northumberland seabird centre is the only place in Europe and the UK were visitors can view on live CCTV the most endangered uk seabird, the Roseate tern, and some 30,000 puffins breed on the island every year.
Wildlife highlights: Roseate tern, Kittiwake, Puffin, Eider duck, Fulmar, Blackheaded gull, Arctic tern, Common tern, Sandwich tern.
Location: The Seabird Centre is located on the harbour quayside in Amble.
Facilities: Visitor facilities include an in-house coffee shop serving drinks and refreshments.
