Chew Valley Lake
Chew is the largest artificial lake in south-west England. It is a large reservoir with banks that are speckled with rare plants such as golden dock when the water levels are low.Highlights: The waders are fantastic here, with large numbers of shoveler, gadwall, teal and tufted duck in winter. The gull roost is also an impressive sight.
Access: The road to Woodford Lodge and the nature trails that run from the two picnic sites on the north-east shore are both open to the public, but to visit the hides and use the roads in the southern half of the lake you will need a permit.

Wheel chair access: the trail from the tea shop is accessible to wheel chairs.
