Coatham Marsh Nature Reserve
Fifty of the one hundred and thirty four acres of this reserve are ancient marshland, but the diverse landscape includes lime-rich grassland and man made lakes too.
Highlights: Winter is a real treat at Coatham. The sky can be swarmed with flocks of teal, wigeon and shoveler five hundred strong. Little egret and black-winged stilt have been recorded here, so keep your eyes peeled.
