Coombe Bissett Down Nature Reserve

Coombe Bissett Down is a chalk downland valley notable for its fantastic landscape. In summer the steep slopes are adorned with flowers and butterflies. The valley bottom and surrounding fields are part of a grassland restoration project.

Wildlife highlights: Chalk downland butterflies - Adonis blue, chalkhill blue, dingy skipper and marbled white. Birds include skylarks, yellowhammers, goldfinches and whitethroats.

Location: From Salisbury to Blandford road (A354) at Coombe Bissett, take turning to Homington (near pub). After 0.5 miles turn right into Pennings Drove. Follow road uphill for 0.25 mile. Reserve entrance (metal gate) and car park on the right.

Wheelchair access: Access to reserve for wheelchair users through small gate in car park. Key to gate is available on request from the Trust head office.
