Freeholders Wood - Aysgarth

Freeholders' Wood Local Nature Reserve (LNR) is owned and managed by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.

Highlights: Nuthatch, chaffinch, treecreeper, blackcap, chiffchaff, goldcrest, bullfinch, greenfinch, tits, song thrush, blackbird and warblers, Roe deer, woodmice, and dormice were reintroduced in 2008.

Access and facilities: Freeholders' Wood and the adjacent Aysgarth Falls cab be reached along the falls trail. There are interpretation panels in place on the woodland trail.

The Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre is adjacent to the nature reserve and has ample car parking, a shop, café and toilets.
