Kenfig National Nature Reserve
The area is now the home for thousands of species of animals and plants, including the rare fen orchid, for which the site is internationally famous.

Information Centre
To get the most out of your visit to the reserve, call in at the Information Centre, which has a ‘hands-on' exhibition for all ages, and visit the shop for leaflets, books, and conservation gifts.
Stroll along the boardwalk, and stop at one of the two Bird Hides overlooking the 70 acre freshwater pool, a favourite refuge for wildfowl at all times of the year. Visitors can observe the movement of birds on the lake and Wardens are often on site to answer any questions you may have.
As you look across the dunes, it is hard to believe that there was once a town here. Kenfig, was a thriving town? In late medieval times, huge storms took their toll and the town was engulfed beneath thousands of tons of sand. The only trace left today of the ancient borough, is the castle keep; which rises out of the northern dunes.
Facilities
The reserve has plenty of parking, toilets, retail area, exhibition space and an education room with dedicated Education Warden.
Kenfig National Nature Reserve is open all year and admission is free. The Visitor Centre opens from 2pm to 4.30pm weekdays and 10am to 4.30pm weekends.
