Mabie Forest Butterly Reserve

The 100 hectare Mabie Forest is owned by the Forestry Commission of Scotland. It has more than 20 of Scotland's 32 resident butterflies. Most of the forest is Sitka Spruce but there are significant area of ancient oak woodland, wetlands and grassland.

Managed by Butterfly Conservation.

Butterfly highlights: Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Dingy Skipper, Northern Brown Argus, Dark Green Fritillary and Forester moth.

Location: The reserve is 4 miles south of Dumfries, in the centre of Mabie Forest.
