Monach Isles National Nature Reserve

A few lowlying islands lying a few miles to the west of North Uist. Known for Grey seals and a wide and spectacular flower display.

Highlights: Every autumn these islands play host to one of the most important breeding colonies of Atlantic grey seals in the world. The Monach Isles are also home to large numbers of seabirds, including black guillemots and terns.

Best time and how to visit: May to August for birds and flowers.

Do not disturb nesting birds and seals.
