Pendarves Wood Nature Reserve

This 40 acre woodland was planted and a lake created in the 19th century. From late April into May, the woodland floor is carpeted with bluebells.

Highlights:  Bluebells, Yello wbrimstone butterflies, The spotted flycatcher is a common summer visitor.

Bats: Pendarves Wood has around 20 bat boxes, which have been monitored by local bat ecologist Steve Marshall, for six years (2008). Long-term monitoring is vital for bat conservation as it enables conservationists to gather more information on the ecology of bats. Also, any changes in population numbers can be quickly identified and then appropriate conservation actions can be taken if needed. Common pipistrelle and Noctule bats are both known to be resident.

Location: Take the B3303 south from Camborne for approx 2 miles, the entrance is on the left. There is limited parking, and the tracks are often muddy (unsuitable for wheelchaitrs).

No dogs.
