Perryfields Quarry Butterfly Reserve
This 1.2 hectare area of disused quarryland is a haven for wildflowers and butterflies. Its tree and scrub cover is also very important for migrating birds. It is an open reserve with information board and paths.
Butterflies: Flower-rich limestone grassland with over 28 butterfly species including Cretaceous form of Silver-studded Blue, Dingy skipper, Dark green fritillary, Chalkhill Blue, Small Blue, Adonis Blue.
Other wildlife: Very good spot for migrant birds and glow worms.
Location: The reserve lies above the museum car-park, on western side of Pennsylvania Road, Easton, on the Isle of Portland. Take the A354 onto Portland and through Easton. Continue along Wakeham to its end, - the public car park is on the right hand side of the road opposite Pennsylvania Castle.
