Kennall Vale Nature Reserve

Kennall Vale vandalised.
  • August 2006. We are sorry to report that on the night of 30th August, this popular reserve was vandalised. One of the bridges was smashed and a second bridge was thrown into the water; a wall on the remains of one of the buildings was been knocked down; research material was destroyed and many and many trees were damaged.
  • The police have been informed and we want your help to publicise what has happened to try to help catch whoever has done this. The Trust would urge anyone with information on what happened at Kennall Vale to contact the police.
One of the Cornish Wildlife Trusts most popular reserves, this 20 acre reserve has some picturesque woodland with rich undergrowth and open glades. There is an old quarry that had filled with water and some disused gunpowder mills are dotted across the slopes.

Highlights: The dipper is the signature bird here.

Location: Turn off the A393 by the Ponsanooth post office and follow this road for a few hundred yards. Access to the reserve is via a footpath on the right as you ascend the hill. There is very limited parking in lanes near the site. Tracks and paths run throughout the reserve.

Grid reference: SW 753 375
