Snape Warren RSPB

Snape Warren is an exciting new reserve where the RSPB have created important wetland and heathland areas.  The higher ground offers stunning views across the Alde Estuary towards Snape Maltings, where there is an RSPB Wildlife Information Centre. .

The Snape reserve also includes a wetland area (only currently accessible with RSPB guided walks) where new reedbeds and freshwater marshes are being created to benefit wildlife such as otters, water voles, kingfishers, bitterns, marsh harriers and dragonflies.

Wildlife highlights: The heathland is a blaze of purple in summer and is home to rare wildlife such as Dartford warblers, woodlarks and adders. There are excellent walks along the Alde Estuary where you can see wading birds such as avocets and curlews, plus barn owls, marsh harriers and yellowhammers. Boat trips run throughout the spring and summer. RSPB volunteers will be present on some trips.

Opening times: The visitor centre is open every day except Wednesdays, 10 am to 4 pm. Snape Warren and the public footpaths are open at all times.

Entrance charges: It's free!

dog owners: Dogs are only allowed on public footpaths and bridleways. Dogs are welcome in the RSPB Information Centre, and on most RSPB guided walks.
