Ten Acre Wood Nature Reserve

birds/Birds_april_09/woodpecker_wx Hawthorn and blackthorn abound in this oak plantation and provide a marvellous source of berries for birds in autumn and winter, making the woods a popular place for birdwatchers.

Highlights: Kestrel, sparrow hawk, and Green, Greater and Lesser spotted woodpeckers can all be seen here, as well as a range of butterflies and dragonflies.

Location: Charville Lane, near Westways Farm.
