Morecambe Bay RSPB
During migration and in winter, the reserve's sandflats and saltmarshes are vital feeding grounds for thousands of wading birds and wildfowl. At high tide, they are pushed back on to the saltmarshes, giving excellent birdwatching from Hest Bank, 8 miles/12.8 km from Leighton Moss (map and tide tables are available from Leighton Moss reserve). Do not go out onto the saltmarsh or intertidal area - there are dangerous channels and quicksands. Two coastal lagoons have been created close to Leighton Moss reserve, with nature trails and Allen and Eric Morecambe birdwatching hides.Opening times
