Rathlin Island Cliffs RSPB

uk/UK_reserves/rathlin_rspb

Rathlin Island lies six miles off the north Antrim Causeway coast. From late April to early August the spectacular cliffs on the island are alive with thousands of seabirds. The colony is at its greatest density at the RSPB viewpoint on the West Lighthouse, clinging to the cliff face. This gives a truly unique vantage point from which to appreciate the sheer volume and intense activity of breeding puffins, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars.

The viewpoint offers excellent, safe views of the seabird colony with telescopes and binoculars provided by helpful wardening staff. Shelter is minimal, so warm, waterproof clothing is advisable. There are no toilets or refreshment facilities at the viewpoint. Amenities, including accommodation, are near the harbour.
