Wood of Cree RSPB

Stop press. Wood of Cree to double in size.

  • RSPB Scotland has bought Barclye farm, adjacent to the Wood of Cree, and will conduct some extensive replanting of native species to double the size of the rare woodland.

The Wood of Cree is the largest ancient wood in southern Scotland. In spring, the wood is alive with the sound of bird song, as the resident birds are joined by redstarts, pied flycatchers and garden warblers from Africa. The otter platform gives views over the river where otters are sometimes seen.
