Wildife and bird watching in Wiltshire & Avon

Wiltshire is the home of the Great Bustard reintroduction project. The Great Bustard is the county bird of Wiltshire, and has been reintroduced, with 22 birds released in 2004 and annual releases since then. See below for details.

Earlier this spring a female Great Bustard from the Great Bustard Group (GBG) reintroduction trial in Wiltshire nested and laid two eggs. Due to fears of egg thieves and disturbance from bird watchers, the announcement was delayed and the location of the nest is being kept secret.
