Dunton Nature Reserve

This new six hectare site has been specially designed by Bedfordshire County Council engineers and wildlife experts.

There is a lagoon which will protect the nearby Stratton Business Park in times of flooding, by taking flood water away from the industrial estate to fill the lake and in the process, create the perfect habitat for wildlife.

Highlights: Dunton is a haven for wildlife such as ringed plovers, emperor dragonflies and the rare bee orchid.

Location: The site off Dunton Lane is one kilometre from Biggleswade's Saxon Gate Leisure Centre. The area is open to the public all year round, as a bridleway runs down the length of the lagoon, giving visitors great views of the entire area, where people can enjoy the flower filled grassland, marshland and woodland.
